I'm going to Pila at the end of March (fly out on 26th). The reason I chose Pila is because I have been there before and it is all north/north east facing. However, the weather is getting quite warm now and I am a bit worried about the snow conditions for when I go.

Weather changes. If you looked at the weather outlook thread you would know it is currently forecast to get colder again next week. And no-one can tell you what it will be like at the end of March.

Decided not to go - heart not really in it just after the funeral and need to stay and support my mum. I just hope there is now when I do go at the end of March; hence the new posting!

I do have a sense of humour (apparently!) No, its not a wind up - I picked Pila cos I've been before and because its high and north/north east facing but worried about the warm weather now.

I am now really worried about end of March for skiing - I am off to Pila then and yesterday it was 15º in Pila.

How long have you been using this forum, and how long have you been skiing?
There is nothing at all indicating summer is here for good, crazy concept, but mountain weather does tend to fluctuate - and it takes a seriously long time to melt this much snow. It doesn't just run away as soon as the temperature jsut goes into the plus. Unless it rains solidly for the next month, the snow will be absolutely fine at the end of March, just as it is in 99% of seasons, including crappy ones like the last.

If it makes you feel better, I was in Tignes/Val at the end of last March into April, at the end of a season of rubbish snow. The weather was BAKING but guess what? The snow was absolutely fine, and you could ski all the way down into Les Brevieres.
Stop worrying.

Hot weather getting worried?........NO
We have been to val disere for the past
5yrs on the same week (last sat of march)
so basically last week of march into early April.
Always had a great week & i can't remember
a week that we did not have a bit of fresh
snow whilst there. Even last yr which was not
the best season snow wise, we had a dump of
Snow which unturn that morning had us skiing
boot deep on piste.
We go again 24th march, can't wait. This yr
could be different for sure. But given my
experience of the last 5yrs I'm not in the little
bit worried.
