have booked a hotel in st johann in tirol for the kitzbhuel shaldming week in 2013.
1)and decent night life in st johann?
2) we are arrving on saturday afternoon so will miss the down hill that morning. however one possibility is to fly in on a friday, stay in slazburg and get early train to kitxbuel for the 10am downhill. anyone else encountering this problem. hotels almost all to a sat to sat booking! cheers

st johann is quite small, so depends on what you mean by decent night life.
it's a nice place to go out with a few pubs but nothing mental when i was there. bunnys bar and rogi's are ok if busy.
however kitz is only 10 mins on train

You don't know what you're missing  The Tirol Winter Festival should be starting Erl, less than an hour from Kitzbühel, around next Christmas!
