Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Salomon Enduro XT800 vs Rossignol Experience 83

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi all,

I'm skiing Tignes (again) this year in April. Just back from La Plagne and hired a set of Rossignol Zenith Z9 which I enjoyed, but found a little heavy (particularly on bumps). Also I wasn't overly impressed with their edge holding (could have just been my set though).

Skiset guarantee the model when booking ski hire online. I'm torn between the Rossignol Experience 83s and the Salomon Enduro XT800s (can't bring myself to try the BBR 7.9s). Has anyone skied both of these skis or have any observations on either?

I'm 26 and quite fit/strong - I tend to ski hard all day. I weigh 90kg and am 6ft2. Generally I ski on piste (black/red) with the odd off piste hour or so. I have skied for roughly 15 weeks and am comfortable on all terrain and love carving or short turns on the steep but I struggle on bumps (I don't look far enough ahead - but I'm working on it!).

I do like to ski fast, so I wouldn't be willing to sacrifice stability at speed for handling bumps. I ski bumps quite rarely - either when feeling fit and lively, paying for an instructor to take me on them or if I didn't realise they were there!

My main concerns are at the Salomon's are no good for me at 90kg and that the Rossignols are too intermediate.

Any thoughts would be welcome. Also thoughts on hire shops. I used Intersport last year and they were cheap, plus I lucked out with the skis I had - but I know they can be hit and miss.

Thanks

??

Salomons are stiffer and slightly narrower and the binding is slightly further back then the rossingols. BBRs will be crappy on the piste anyway so there isnt much point in those. I haven't used the Rossingols, mate has them, will try them out next trip (2nd week april)

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Ok thanks. I read a review of the Salomon's that said skiers over 85kg may struggle as they aren't that stiff. May be a load of rubbish though!

I'm going 2nd week of April too. Still torn, thinking the rossignols as they might handle the slush better?
