Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Val Thorens

We are going to Val Cenis at Easter, and plan to visit Val Thorens via the Orelle gondola. I am keen to find out what the runs are like from the gondola. I am going with my family which consists of a nervous intermediate other half, and two children who can ski blues and not too difficult reds.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Max01, from the top of the Orelle gondola, there is the choice of two chairs, one allowing you to ski further up the Orelle Valley and the other taking you over to Val Thorens. If you take the Peyron lift up the Orelle valley, you can access a wide motorway blue also called Peyron. The second chair up (Bouchet) takes you up to the highest point in the Three Valleys and a great view-point, but the red down Coraia has a fairly steep pitch early on which your wife might find daunting - I suggest you recce it while your family circle Peyron. The resto at the bottom of Peyron was Ok the last time I tried it.

If you take the Rosael lift up to Val T you can access a lot of blues and reds. If you go down to the main resort, I would suggest taking the Peclet lift up and skiing any of Tete Ronde, Lac Blanc or Christine.
Many Snowheads would recommend the Deux Lacs restaurant (at the top of the Deux Lacs lift) as a great lunch stop.
On the way back down to Orelle, you will need to take Maurinnaise (red) or Gentianes (blue) which is a track which criss-crosses the red and is sometimes closed or partially closed due to avalanche risk in late season, but will probably be Ok for you as Easter is early.

Have a great time Very Happy
