Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Not sure about, this but I think Phil Ingle is demonstrating #1 in this set of pictures:

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

The guy in the drawing still has his skis on and below him and not crossed, so if he's on a steep slope he might do better to try to push of and get his edges biting.
To take this further, if you lose your skis, trythe Giles Green method. It will stop you on a steeper slope than the way they suggest: get feet below you, face to the slope, then do a press-up to put most of your weifght on your boot tips. That will stop you on a 45º or even a 50º slope if you do it quickly before you gain speed. (but in that case just getting your chest off the snow is enough as you are half way to verticl already - otherwise you'll flip over backwards when your boots bite). I know - it saved my life.
Their method is good on an icy, more gentle slope.

16) Operate a Motor Vehicle While Wearing Ski Boots
Buy an automatic. After that, the key to success is angulation-think duck feet. Point your toes out so you don't catch your heels on the floor mat. Get jiggy using your entire leg-foot, knee, hip-for braking and accelerating.

Are they serious? Do any suicidally minded snowheads actually drive without taking off their ski boots?

Jonny Jones, I have on rare occasions heard of people driving in ski boots, but I agree with you, they must have a death wish

Jonny Jones, DG Orf, Not so.

I am not suicidally minded but am a very safe and proficient driver in ski boots. Normally happens when I've got to the lift, all kitted up and realised my listpass is in other pocket, etc. You just have to get the hang of it - it's easy really.
