Does anyone know the approximate date of the Snow and Rock end of season sale please?

Thanks. I'm after some ski boots. I thought it might be earlier than that. I'm skiing at Easter and wondered whether it was likely to be before then

I guess end of March is more realistic but waiting for ski boots in a sale is false economy as they usually only have limited sizes and models left so you're likely to get fitted in what they have rather than what you need.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Good point. I will have a think! Thanks for that.

jpet Snow and Rock offer a price pledge for 21 days after purchase. So if you buy the boots from them and they reduce their price within 21 days you should go back to them and they should refund the difference.
I bought some skis from them a few years back and they chap said "we start our sale next week so you mioght as well have them at the sale price so you don't have to bring them back".

Genius idea! Thanks for that. I'm glad I asked the question

It's usually on by the 1st or 2nd week of March....but the price pledge is a great idea

Bargain guide, hardware double and add vat software treble and add vat.

or don't bother with the VAT calculation cos it's proportionate. Basically if you're paying under 50% for hardgoods or 33% for softgoods you might be getting it at under cost so 40% off sales in jackets aren't all that special.

Cost to retailer sorry. Is it any wonder Salomon want to open up their direct internet sales channel though?
Of course if you want your specialist ski retailers to stay in business (& personally I couldn't care whether EB and S&R do or don't, but real specialists would be a loss) it is probably is worth buying stuff off them at full price occasionally.

So we are into March, given past history their sale usually starts around 17th March (which is a Saturday this year so possible), so within 21 days of the price promise...
Any other bets on when it will start this year???

You know it makes sense.

What about Ellis Brigham? Looking at particular skis for my daughter which she is testing on Saturday. When is their sale likely to be and do they have a similar price promise? The skis already have 25% off.
Answering my own question they have a 21 day return policy on mail order. Likely to buy in store though, so I'll ask there.

Colin B, EB, S&R, TNF and Cotswold had 50% off sales advertised in the windows of their Covent Garden stores last night.

Sadly they don't have that much on sale and most of what is on sale is 25%

Fortunately EB have 25% off the skis I'm interested in for my daughter so not too bad. Importantly she needs to test them too as they're stiff advanced piste skis and she hasn't really skied anything like that before.

Looking at how packed the racks are in my local EB, I'm expecting an absolute bumper sale.
Everything is so expensive to begin with, though.

Back on topic, my wife was in a s&r store and the assistant was saying the sale could start next week as lots of their competitors have started their end of season sales,

Looks like the discounting has kicked off ... EB started the ball rolling with S&R following ....
Best approach is to find best price on internet (from smaller shops discounting) ... check in stock then S&R will match ..
£200 saved for me

Think from experience I would rather give the money to the smaller shop.

Crikey, just stopped into the Exeter store and walked out with a K2 slay blade and Rome targa bindings for £300 - that's 50% off!!! In snow and rock!!! At the start of march!!! What the hell is going on!!!
Can't stop smiling, off now to stroke my bargain babies!

Yep I try my best to keep the smaller shop going. EB Dragon goggles £75. Ski shop in Partick Glasgow (not named but next to the fireplace shop) £40.
They also do a free wax for anyone.

Jeez ... my post was about getting best deal from S&R rather than buying from small retailer versus large ...
Agree buy from local small where possible but if other end of country ... I tend to like the f2f contact on large purchases.
But that is maybe just me ...

Nothing quite to match the Twoseasons online sale posted on here a couple of days ago but the sale was in full swing in EB at Tamworth fridge yesterday.

kitenski, I was in their store over the weekend at Braehead and was really surprised how quiet it was. First day of the sale is usually quite hectic, but it was really quiet. Bad year for the ski industry in this country?

Bad year for expensive shops that don't do a great job of looking after their customers. Then again, I believe it should be a bad year for that every year.
I know a lot of shops that are doing just fine. Most are running a leaner model than S&R or EB, and their prices are more realistic. The only time we end up in there is for the sale, and even then prices aren't often better than most online retailers.

I've never seen our local Snow and Rock busy. I sometimes call in just for a browse if I am at Ikea, but would shop elsewhere for ski stuff, although I don't really have much choice up here. I've tried things on there, then bought online. I've recently bought an Eider jacket online from Europaskilodge.co.uk at a substantially lower price than from S&R. When it turned out not to be available after all, they sourced one for me directly from France which was sent by express courier service. In the meantime I tried both EB (with a discount code) and S&R who both just said sorry out of stock.
