Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Problems skiing after broken tib fib

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi there I broke my tib fib on the mountain bike in 1999 and have since had a rotation problem, where the right foot is a good few degrees (10-15) rotated. This alignment problem sent me back from a black to blue level (biking is actually OK - but no SPD's!). I had the metalwork out in summer 2002 and that autumn suffered a rebreak whilst skiing in Perisher (Auz). I've had a custom orthotic made (that did help somewhat) but still can't get down the hill with the right fluid motion for smooth skiing (think R leg is not level on snow and won't turn). I was really getting into skiing before the break and loved it, but now can only do a few hours. I've read posts from some people that have had issues with getting back on the slopes after a break (understandably) but if anyone has a similar experience to me, or advice, it would be really welcome. I realise I may just have an unfixable bio-mechanical problem, in which case, it might be sensible to try boarding? Cheers for any help, Paul.(If any more information about my situation may be of interest to others out there feel free to ask).

I broke my right tib-fib back in '94 (not skiing) and my right foot points out straight-ish and my left out to the side like a duck so I am quite wonky. When I started skiing I struggled turning left. A good boot fitter sorted out my alignment and I just had to unlearn all the funky moves I was using to try and compensate. So, no reason to give up skiing, see a good boot fitter who understands alignment issues. Good luck.

paulosbaldeston, I think I would make the journey to Bicester from Cardiff. There you will find solutions4feet, aka CEM of this parish - www.solutions4feet.com - and he will not only fit your boots, but put you in touch with Andi McCann and his aligning skills - www.mccannix.com
