Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Christmas in Kitzbuhel

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
G'day folks,
Last season, we spent a week in wonderful Megeve with the crew from Stanford Skiing at their chalet Sylvana. The trip included flights, transfers, 7 nights and half board.

We are now looking at doing something similar, but in Kitzbuhel (or somewhere else in Austria) over the Christmas period (24/12). We're not the big party animals who spend more time in the bars than on the slopes, but do enjoy a few beverages after a day on the slopes. We're all competant skiers, ranging from confident blue to confident black.

Does anyone know of a similar kind of family run company that has chalets in Kitzbuhel, or is this resort too large for the family run companies to operate from?

Thanks in advance snowHead 's

I don't know if Ski Miquel are family-run, but they have a similar-sized chalet-hotel in Bad Gastein called Tannenburg. I thought they were a pretty decent outfit.

BadG itself is higher than Kitz and has a higher ski area overall, so you have more chance of good Xmas snow there. Kitz probably wins on apres but there is enough in BadG to keep you occupied, including thermal baths and a casino in addition to the usual drinking joints. The skiing is certainly more challenging than Megeve but if you are not taking any total beginners that won't be a problem.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

bunsen, in terms of a non-refundable booking Kitzbuhel is too risky for snow at Christmas, though I'd certainly put in a late booking if the snow materialises. It's a lovely place.
