Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

hi i am new at this forum ( first post)

i would like to ask you a few questions about this JACKETS
i found this coats on sales this week i saw them i liked them
and i need help what to choose
i want a good mountain jacket to protect me from the cold at the mountains
i dont ski i dont walking too much just to be warm enough
i cold too easy thats why i need a warm jacket

If you don't ski, don't walk and just want to be warm, then you want a down jacket or something with Primaloft.

oew1999, where will you be spending spring? If it's mostly for keeping warm in winter, I'd get a jacket for that purpose, then a separate windproof softshell for spring.

I don't really see the point in specific 3 in 1 jackets. Why not just buy a decent shell jacket and then wear whatever insulation layers are appropriate underneath for the temperature? Far more versatile solution.

There's a certain amount of convenience in being able to, eg. put on a shell with the fleece without the fleece sleeves getting rucked up. But seeing as the tradeoff is usually getting a slightly disappointing fleece with a slightly disappointing shell, it isn't really worth it. I had a 3-in-1 for a while, but after the first week of use I ditched the fleece layer and used it as a generic cheap shell over some nicer mids.
