Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Soll, Austria - March 17 anyone?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Just about to book a single room at a Hotel in Soll, Austria. 7 days from 17 March (only time I can get off work).

Looking to join others mainly for the Apres Ski and nightlife for socialising and a few laughs...
but possibly some skiing also and meet up for lunch etc.

Be great to get a group together... anyone interested?

I'm an aggressive intermediate so all slopes at Soll I should find easy and some off piste I'll be trying too.
34 yr old sporty male.
Just got back from St.Anton with a friend. Unfortunately he can't get the same time off work with me to go together again.

Been looking at the solo traveller holiday companies and for somewhere like Soll seems better booking through a tourist operator instead.

I've found a single occupancy room in Soll for £550 with flights via Crystal Ski. I was also after my own room.

Be good to get others together as group for meeting up.

If others wanted to share twins instead of book there own room then be great to organise here.

I went to Soll my first time Skiing 3yrs ago so know the area ok. Decent enough ApreSki and nightlife. Place isn't too big or spread out either.

Its definately cheaper to not go single occupancy. et a twin and you'll save as well. I got a price the other day for Soll forthe 17th march and its half board. Think it was about 550 altogether.

Close to the slopes as well.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.
I'm looking at Booking a single occupancy room in Hotel Austria which is half board. Not bad for £550. Believe they only have the 2 single rooms left.
Other options available though inc teaming for twin rooms or singles in pensions.
The other single occupancy options were one at £680 ish (depends on depature airport of course) plus 3 others at around £750 mark.
So plenty of choice and this is just through CrystalSki.
DirectSki & Neilson also worth a look.

I'm after a sole occupancy room for myself - price doesn't bother me to much.
Just me... prefer my own room.
But like I say the one I found is HB, single and £550 Smile

Not forced to get flights from same airport if interested. I've travelled from Manchester before when my friend travelled from Gatwick.

Main thing is getting like minded people interested in travelling to Soll on 17th March for socialising, Apres Ski etc.

Hay dude

Ive been contacted by 2 others also wanting to go on the 17th. Both are not really too bothered on where they go. I have been looking at prices and just wondering if your dead set on Soll. If not would you look at MayrHofen?

Not dead set on Soll... just it was a cheap option and knew I can get single room.
Still searching my options.

A ski club GB trip to Val d'Isere I've shortlisted for the dates but it is £1000+ and 2 days instructor and 4 guided.

I'd prefer doing my own thing as long as I have a single ensuite room and people to join for Apres Ski, meals and nightlife.
If same skiing ability then great stuff. Hence why I'd prefer grouping up with the likes of yourself and others.

Sure I'd look into MayrHofen Jono!

Who are the other 2?

Sounds good... quickly looked at Mayrhofen and some choice again there. This Soll has a bigger ski area with the SkiWelt though and good ApresSki. But like I say I'm still looking and prefer to find a group to socialise with than a perfect resort and be on my todd on holiday lol.

One tripadvisor comment that worries me,

"As for Mayhrofen for skiing - there's 1 main reason we won't consider going back - the Penken queues - bloody nightmare - great when you get up the mountain but an hour queuing on and off the mountain is no fun."

Just word of warning... if you look at some Pensions, Chalets or Guesthouses they maybe some walking distance from Soll town for the nightlife.
So be careful when searching to find out exactly where it is located.
I know the likes of Hotel Gänsleit, Hotel Austria, Hotel Postwirt plus some others are centre in the heart of town.

For a cheap option and just breakfast I stayed at Pension Niedermühlbichler (DirectSki) last time I went 3 yrs ago.
Basic but was good enough for me. Still a little outside centre but only 10 min walk.
Friend got a cheap Pension option that was assigned on the day of arrival and it was 30 mins walk a way at least from the Centre.

Hotel Austria looks cheapest best for a central half board basis. Hotel Gänsleit looks a good bet for something a little more expensive with good reviews.
Let us know what your looking at Jonathan.

Pension Niedermühlbichler is £313 for a shared room from Manchester. Not HB but at that price can afford to eat out. Downside for you is flights only from Manchester & Gatwick in UK. Plus I'd have to book elsewhere as no singles available. But an option at that price to enable proper eating out Smile

Hotel Edinger looks best bet with Coop Travel for B&B from Birmingham for you in a shared room. Basic but cheap and good tripadvisor reviews. Also in middle of Soll town. About £356 each with you and your mate fly from Birmingham. Decent price to enable eating out at restaurants for evening meals with better choice.

For HB best bet is Hotel Austria at about £485 from Coop Travel each and a great location.

Soll always does seem to bring the best prices up. Dunno why. Good ApresSki atmosphere, decent large piste map with good adventure travel (across map if know what I mean) and nightlife is ok with some decent Restaurant choices. Only downside is low altitude but I'm hopeful after the snow we've been getting of late and searched previous yrs Soll in March youtube vids to put my mind at ease.

I got 3 quotes from my local COOP. I'll start with the lowest. All based on 2 sharing, sorry andy i know your looking at single occupancy lol. All are half board and including ski pass, ski carriage and 20kg luggage. These are also for Soll.

Hotel Landhaus Moedlinger, £550 (Neilson)

Chalet Mounty, £586 (Crystal)

Hotel Fuchs, £625 (Neilson)

Food for though peeps

So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much
Did some research (I could be wrong!):

Chalet Mounty – Think it was a neilson run Chalet but now a CrystalSki exclusive – some mixed reviews – basic – not in centre of town but only max 10 min walk anywhere.

Hotel Landhaus Moedlinger – can’t find this one tbh. Don't think it is to be confused with Hotel & Sport Mödlinger.

Hotel Fuchs – Some good reviews past 2 yrs. Again 10min walk max to anywhere in centre. Looks really nice! Same they don't do single occupancy lol.

(No worries for me... I'll find something... if you get B&B let me know as I'd be up for eating out. Pension Edinger does look great value as a B&B for around £330 with CrystalSki and prime central location that is bang on for everything. Prices you listed do look good when your sharing and to also inc the lift pass though with HB)

NOTE: Lift passes... you want the whole Skiwelt lift pass and not just the Soll one! Opens up the whole area and some good cruising runs at Scheffau/Ellmau and a large piste map to explore.

CrystalSki. Had a good experiance with them at St.Anton early this month and flying with Thomson. Want to fly Thomson again. Had nightmare past few flights with likes of Jet2, easyjet etc. Def avoiding Jet2 for ski carriage. I just don't trust them to get my skis to the resort with me.

Postwirt isn't cheap but is single occupancy. £716 from Manchester and gonna pay an extra tenner for slightly earlier flight. Innsbruck has a shorter transfer time also. then I have the lift pass and ski carriage charges to add.

Same hotel is £618 each for two sharing from Birmingham mate. Not cheap for you, but suits me with single occupancy. Have you checked out Hotel Austria?

I'm asking questions about the lift passes. Far as I was concerned there is only 1 for the skiwelt area. No local pass. Can't understand why CrystalSki is offering 2 options with one called the superior area pass Puzzled

I would assume that, the standard lift pass will open up the ski welt, where a superior lift pass also opens up the Kitzbuhel ski areas as well which you can ski into from Westerndorf. I've never done it but I think that it would be a long day to get to Kitz from Soll and back again.

Yeah think your right. The superior pass must include the SkiWelt and the Kitzbuheler Alpen. SkiWelt is plenty big enough. Dunno why they'd package two piste maps together with so much transport/travel required to move between the two?!? Must be the KITZBÜHEL ALPS ALLSTARCARD the more expensive pass.

Stuck at work at moment on night shift.
How many we got so far then on board? Is it just the 3 of us so far?

Anyone interested in joining a friendly group for a skiing/snowboarding holiday at Soll, Austria from 17th?

Prices at Soll are fairly cheap ladies and gentlemen & the snow this season has been brilliant (speaking from experiance of St.Anton 2 weeks ago)
