Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Maria-Alm, Austria

Hi All,

Looking at a catered chalet here 4th - 11th February.

Within 400m of the Natrun lift.

Does anybody have any experience/reviews of this resort and the linked skiing it offers?

Kind regards

Rossco

rossco, if you put "Maria Alm" into the search function, and be sure to click to look in the body of posts, not just the titles, there's quite a lot about Maria Alm. Sounds lovely!

Came back from Maria Alm last week, Natrun is only linked in the loosest sense, you can take a run to the road, which you have to then cross and then go thru a car park in order to access the gondola to the Aberg area which is then linked to other areas across to Muhlback.
That said, its a little gem of a resort, friendly, relatively cheap, buses run to time-ish! There was plenty of snow while we were there and they didnt over bash so on piste felt off piste at times.
Providing all the lifts remain open (couple of times wind stopped play while we were there) it is easily possible to do the Kings tour from Maria alm to Muhlback and return in a day if you are happy on red runs, Dienton and hintermoos are worth exploring too (between maria alm and muhlbach) the less experienced or easily tired can always get a bus back.
Bachwirt is a bar worth a try, good food and friendly staff. Only negative point we came across is that universally the food was over salty for all 4 of us. Whenever we went back somewhere a second time we had to make a point of asking for no salt, even the pizza's were seasoned with salted herbs. Very Happy

A friend and I did the King's Tour last Wednesday. There is a report with a few pictures here.

Would agree with lilywhite, we missed the link route 9 from the top of the dorfj@t (tho shown on the map as further down) but having seen it emerge from the corner of a field onto the main road round at the Aberg gondola decided the very regular buses were the better option! So far have skied the Maria Alm blues and red from dorfj@t and drag lifts. Training zone for kids race skiers reduced width of red. Aberg has been great tho winds shut much of the area yesterday. Hinterreit was an unexpected little gem yesterday pm. Today was over to Hintertal and back. Many gasthauses/pizza places in the town and you would be near the Billa supermarket I think.
