Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Drive across Germany to Serfaus

Greetings,

Conditions dictate that I'll be driving from Travemünde to Serfaus via Munich this winter. Departure will be on 24.2. evening, drive until about midnight, stop for the night and continue on the morning to hopefully reach Munich airport around noon. Then continue to Serfaus.

I'd appreciate any suggestions on the route to take. I've been thinking about taking A7 to join A9 near Nürnberg or alternatively take A24 to join A9 near Berlin. After Munich I guess I'd pass by Garmisch and over Fernpass. I've taken that road a few times earlier, but traffic has sometimes been an issue and I understand 25.2. is not the best weekend to travel.

Flying and renting a car is not possible, as we are staying quite some time (and need the car).

All helpful hints are greatly appreciated!

Teufi, unless there is a valid reason for going past Munich, I would advise staying on the A7 all the way down to Reutte and then dropping over the Fern Pass down the Inntal before continuing on to Serfaus. If you have to swing past Munich Airport to pick people up, then your suggested route is probably the best one. If you can play it by ear a bit, you should be able to avoid most of the snarl ups.

On the 25.2 most of the traffic will be travelling in the other direction as that is the weekend the Bavarian and other Bundesländer finish their school holidays. However it is the weekend that the Dutch schools start theirs! It really all comes down to timing I'm afraid.
