Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

An earthquake measuring 4.1 on the Richter scale shook the Val d'Aosta today, rattling buildings but causing no reported damage or injuries. Although reports came from near the ski resort of Courmayeur in Italy, the quake is believed to have been centred close to the Swiss-French border - Pennine Alps.

This report from Guardian Unlimited.

The earthquake took place at 1.27pm (12.27 BST).

My sister and bro-in-law had just finished a climb above CHamonix and wandering down on a very narrow ridge when it happened. Made them a little nervous!

Not that far from the epicentre of the bigger 4.9 one that happened Thursday September 8th...
Quote:
A small earthquake was felt across the Alps at lunchtime today. 4.9 on the Richter scale, with its epicentre on the French Swiss border a few miles north of Chamonix, the effects were mainly felt in central Switzerland, but also considerably further afield...

Police in the Valais Canton received a few phonecalls from concerned locals, but there was no significant damage and no one was injured. One road was partially obstructed by a rock fall.

The tremor was felt in Zurich and Milan at 1.30 pm local time, as well as further south in France in the Savoie.
