Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Has anyone travelled from either Venice or Turin to Saltzburg via train or bus. Looking for the easiest method

Skiing in Italy then in Austria but can't drive (unfortunately)

Can you be more specific? Venice and Turin are 4-5 hours apart by car but the trains are good. the Italians have a version of Eurostar but like most countries it goes via the Capital and not West to East across the Po Valley. Where in Italy are you skiing, then I'll try and help you out.

I'll be skiing with my school at Prato Nevoso, Italy during the first week, the 2nd week with my old school at Obertauern, Austria

Hi, err, 1969jma.
I find the Swiss Rail website ( http://www.sbb.ch/en/home.html) pretty easy to use to find out this kind of stuff (even though you're not going through Switzerland). There's an Austrian one too, which is easily Googled.
If you want to visualise the route, it might be worth looking at the SkiRail Map of the Alps (which I'm always banging on about!) as it shows you how all the Alpine resorts are connected by train.

1969jma, Forget flying, too expensive and complicated and you have to change in Vienna (or Venice). Best option is to go by rail from Turin. Italian Rail Site here http://www.trenitalia.com/. Approx cost is around 135 Euros and its a great trip. The Italian 'FRECCIA' trains are their High Speed inter city ones.
