Xavier is my favourite of all the winter sport proponents.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I don't think he can be broken. Super-human. I mean, who seeks out blue sheet ice in order to straight line it?

Par for the course in the sort of terrain these guys seek out. (Taking nothing away from his immense skill, courage and presence of mind).

There are a number of words to describe such people - super-human isn't on my list.

I like the guy. Seems like a really rounded human being. Definately a bit of a mentalist, but nice none the less. Fair play to him, no one else is really doing what he's up to..

I don't understand French but according to this interview (in German) he gave after the avalanche - it was his ABS bag that kept him on top and enabled his friend to locate him very quickly, even though he had travelled 2 KM and free his air ways of snow.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

Huge avalanche. Gosh he was lucky to be OK.
I didn't know he came from St Lary in the Pyranees.
First place I ever went skiing....because it was the very cheapest ski holiday in any brochure. Never been back, and I've never really heard of it since.
Deep, deep powder....I had no idea that was unusually good....took about another 20 years until we had conditions like that again!
