Off to Kirchberg for a weeks skiing on Saturday.
Was in Kirchberg last year but never found anywhere that was really jumping on the slopes before returning to town. Even when you got there it was much quieter that other resorts I have been to with only the London Pub coming close. There was a nice place out at the Penglstein base station and in town the Boomerang had euro beers but both were dead.
Im thinking, Mooserwirt / Krazy Kangaroo (St Anton), Eidelweisshutte (Obertauern), Paznauer Taja / Nikkis Stadl (Ischgl), Goastall (Hinterglemm) you know the type of thing, Loud cheesy Europop with jagertea and tabledancing!
We arrived the week after Hannenkahm week last year and that may have been a bit of a factor, but would appreciate any suggestions.

We went a few years ago and didn't see/find anything close to those in your list. Thought that the London Pub was a dire imitation of the proper one in Kitz. I'd guess the best bet would be to find out where all the Dutch are drinking après ski, that'll be busy! (Loads of Dutch when we went)

Thanks e.g. Was hoping that it was just our timing last year, however, maybe with your experience, thats just the way it is?
We did find the Shneebar Oberkaser on the way down the Erenbachohe, but it was empty. There was also a little umbrella bar a little further down the same run which was a little livlier but as you say, Mooserwirt it was not.
May have to bite the bullet and ski down to Kitz if there are no better suggestions. May also try Westendorf on the Wednesday night for the nightrace.
I will take your advice onboard re The Londoner!

I'm a bit bored at the mo. So, looking at the map there is a mountain caf (no. 31) at the bottom of blue piste 25 down to Fleckalmbahn and two more (no.s 29 & 30) on piste 26 down to the bottom of the Maierl lift, which is now a gondola so could have some new stuff at the bottom. Can't remember any of them being really busy aprés though. Yes do go to the Londoner taxis were only €15-20 back to Kirchberg.

joewarkfanclub, you'll be there race week? You must go to Kitz friday night. Tens of thousands of people in town for the races. Open air bars (see if you can find some gluhmost to drink ) with patio heaters in the pedestrian area and music. The Londoner will be rammed. Even better saturday night, but you'll be gone then...

Many, many moons ago stayed in Kirchberg and from what I recall there were only a couple of bars. That, I think, is why it is (was) cheaper than Kitzbuhel.
We stayed in a Pension owned by an old couple who had a total sense of humour failure when one of us pulled the door to his balcony off its hinges at 2 am. But that is another story.

Though I'm probably the last person in the world to suggest where anyone should go for après ski, maybe you should try the Eisbar (on the road out to Kitzbühel). That seems to be the Dutch centre in Kirchberg, so much so that their web site is all (double) Dutch to me It was certanly lively enough on my visit last December.

Thanks Espri, not far from our hotel so worth a shout. Have vague recollections of being in there last year and it was busy but it was really late at night so not best time to judge for apres ski.

Bump indeed - I've heard mixed things about the liveliness of Kirchberg. My friend emailed me this, but I dont know the source:
"Kirchberg is one of the party centers of Austria with a strong Dutch contingent of party animals. This town claims perhaps the wildest après-ski bar in Europe, The London Pub (3993). This bar has been copied in other towns, but this is the original. It’s dance-til-you-melt, dance-on-the-tables time from about 4 p.m.–8 p.m., when most head off to dine in their hotels. This is the wild après-ski party you’ve dreamed of. If you haven’t tried it yet knock back a couple of “Der Flugels,” a drink made with Red Bull and flavored vodka. It has a real kick and is the new drink of choice.
Later at night the party continues there or moves to the Tiroler disco (4455) that is decorated like a giant country barn or head to the Fuchslöchl (2691) for dancing.
Après ski:
Some visitors to Kirchberg may unfortunately never experience the fantastic ski facilities that the resort offers because there is as much activity of the après-ski variety. Bar life is varied. Restaurants reflect the town's cosmopolitan flavour with sauerkraut to pizza and the spicy tortillas of La Bamba."

Thanks Disaster, good review.
Anyone have any suggestions for any lively skihutten / schirmbars on the way down the mountain?

Morning folks! The big day has arrived and I'm giddy like a kid at Christmas!
Been trawling the internet looking for more information to maximise the fun factor for the week.
Came across Fleckys Schirmbar and 'The Famous' Klausenfalle (so famous I'd never heard of it and didnt come across it last year!) Both apear to be on the route down to the Fleckenbahn Gondola.
Anyone got any experience of these Apres Ski bars?
Cheers
Xcited
