Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Paying by credit card in Neustift Austria

 Poster: A snowHead

Hi

Does anyone know how likely credit cards are to be accepted in Neustift im Stubaital, Austria? Specifically, I'm hoping to pay for lift passes and also ski hire (at Skischule Neustift Olympia) on a card if possible. What about in other places like restaurants/supermarkets?

Many thanks, Andy

rightbak, not been to Neustift for a few years but, if it's anything like everywhere else in Austria, cards will be accepted everywhere. Not like the old days when it was Schillings or Deutschmark notes & coins or nothing.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Don't know about Neustift but elsewhere in Austria credit cards good for lift pass and ski hire. I wouldn't rely on them in bars, restaurants and mountain huts. They still like cash a lot.

Austrian accommodation providers normally prefer cash only elsewhere credit card is no problem but I always pay with cash for my meal when I ate at Neustift. Never encounter a supermarket or petrol station demanding cash in the Alps yet

Yup, Credit card are ok all over Austria, however, you should expect to pay a 2####5 surcharge when paying by CC in hotels.

Curiously, the year before last at St Anton the 'Casse' would take a UK credit card (Visa) but not a UK debit card (prepaid Mastercard). We had to walk round the corner to the cash machine and extract huge numbers of Euros.

Hi - can't see you having any probs.

Paid on my CC last year for Neustift Ski School and Intersport hire at Shlick.

Restaurants and shops on the Glacier accept 'em too.

Have a great one!

Thanks for all the replies - looks like I won't be needing to get quite so many euros as I thought! We're off this Saturday - can't wait!
