Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Without wishing to be too patronising, have you used the search?

There's a few reports from the last couple of years.

I like it. Not great (I think) if you are looking for party central.

Used to ski Chamrousse a fair bit quite a few years ago along with two other "resorts" further up the valley, Prapotel and Sept Laux.

My brother lived just outside Grenoble and we used to go up there with my nieces.

It's obviously very French and is not a party town like the big resorts of Alpe D'Huez and Deux Alpes - it is also relatively low so snow cover can be an issue on the lower pistes.

Have to be honest and say if it is for your one week of the year holiday then probably best to consider other locations, like Montgenevre, Puy st Vincent, Serre Chevalier if you are looking at a smaller type resort.

That said if you're not interested in bars and the like and just there for the snow, and you get it, then it's a great little place with excellent tree skiing.

If you're driving then you can also go to the two other resorts I mentioned, and if snow cover is good then go to the Chartreuse - St Pierre de Chartreuse is a lovely little place where I've had some great days with my kids http://www.st-pierre-chartreuse.com/

i got back from Chamrousse last night having spent 8 days out there. Good little resort, plenty of offpiste. i notice someone commented about it being a low resort and not having much snow lower down - at the moment this isnt the case. they have had good snow fall within the last week or so and it was fine all the way down to 1600m (the lowest lift we went on). As another poster also mentioned, the apres ski is definitely on the quiet side however with no queues for lifts on week days and cheaper lift passes, its not too bad. would recommend for learning to ski (as one of our group did - instructors were good) and to board (as did 2 of our group for the 1st time). hope this is of assitance. if you want any more info, i will do by best to help
