(btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Scientists at Massachusetts Institute of Technology believe that they have found a solution to the age-old problem of misted glasses and ski goggles: nanotechnology, "the science of the vanishingly small". This would involve a silica coating that eliminates the usual effect of warm moist air hitting a cold surface and forming a mist.

Imagine a world where it is possible to carry out non-invasive surgery. Or to de-clog arteries by swallowing lots of minature highly engineered particles. No, its not the sci-fi of Arthur C Clarke!. Once the technology has been enhanced which will take the next decade and half IMO it will surpass the internet and personal computer in its applications.

Its a surprisingly good idea.... though my understanding (i cant read the article due to shockingly slow internet) leads me to think the use of the term 'nano' may be a bit hopeful.....

, I recently had keyhole surgery. It's a lot more invasive than I expected. 5 keyholes plus one 'stab' hole for a drain. Most have healed without a trace but I have an extra 'navel' and a little bump on the tummy I didn't have before.
On topic - if these clever goggles spread out the condensate into a thin layer of water rather than droplets, what stops the water freezing ???? It's rare to get crystal clear ice. I can see it working for car windscreens and the like but unfortunately maybe not for ski goggles.
