Jon Ford, just done same with ours, currently comes in at £2280 for family of four full board. I paid £1750 back in June so definitely agree not all late deals are good. That said will be looking a very late booking for 3/4 March for lads trip and I'm certain we'll get that for under £250 each near the time

I just booked a flight to Geneva from 7-14 January, so arriving this Saturday hoping to find a place near snow somewhere the next couple of days

Just checked the Silver Ski price list and the £25 "security charge" looks like a compulsory charge on all weeks, not just the late deals. But they don't explain what it's for

Lots of half-price Chalet packages departing this weekend and next inc. flights, transfers, accom, food, wine on Igluski in the £300s. Expect some more deals to come up over next few days as most people are back at work now and not much chance of selling a late departure except on price to a bargain hunter!!

3 years ago I got a chalet deal for £220 and would never have paid £300+, 9 years ago I got a 4* chalet in La Plagne for £119, but I suppose fuel inflation and a weaker pound have seen those days pass for good. Sub £300 for a chalet package in a good resort is a rare thing now, but keep looking, now is the prime time!!

Jon Ford, if you want something specific it's best to book early and take the early booking incentive, but if you're not bothered exactly where you go (except that it's somewhere nice!!), don't mind a chalet and are a bit flexible about dates, a late deal is the way to go to get a half-price or better deal.

We've spent the last 3 days looking at "deals" to go on 15 Jan (blooming wedding to go to on 14th!). I thought we were easy to please but in the end, looking to go from EMA, Brum or Doncaster, to a reasonably sized ski area and with no ski bus involved at the other end, there wasn't much to choose from. This morning, biting the bullet, we rang up Iglu about hotels/chalets we were interested in but they'd gone! Ended up booking another place but paying about £40 each more than we would have done if we'd have booked yesterday as all the cheap rooms had gone. Oh, well, I guess a balcony and view will be nice  .
