Poster: A snowHead

I'm hoping for some advice please.
A group of 8-9 adults are looking to book a ski holiday for next Christmas. Ideally, we'd like a nice chalet somewhere and I'm looking for some advice on the best country/resort and how best to go about booking.
Only 3 of the group have skied before, 5 have never skied at all, so ski school is important and also lots of beginners runs, etc, as well as something to keep the more advanced happy.
As well as the skiing, restaurants, bars, local amenities, etc are important.
At the moment, we're unsure of budget!? I'm sorry I'm being so vague, but hoping for any advice I can get.
Thank you

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

nicmalc, Welcome to snowHeads. The places listed by Whitegold, are very expensive. We will be able to help you more when you have thought a bit more about your priorities.

nicmalc, Christmas is early in the season and good snow is not guaranteed... as your novice group will want easily accessible nursery slopes with reliable snow this narrows down your search...
I suggest St Anton in Austria, nursery slopes are right in the village, good snow record, lots of nice chalets and plenty of lively apres and nice eateries.
Budget around £1500 pp all in if you're sharing rooms, £2k if not

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

nicmalc, welcome to snowheads. No rush to book for next Christmas. Think a bit more about the requirements - and particularly about the budget - then as Chris Bish says you will get more specific advice.
When you say you want "a nice chalet" what do you mean exactly? A catered chalet? A package including flights etc.
Christmas is not busy (New Year is). As red 27 said good snow is not guaranteed at Christmas (in much of the French and Austrian alps this Christmas was exceptional - but some ski resorts still have very poor snow).
How much skiing have your 3 skiers done? And where? their previous holidays will have given them a feel for what they need, and don't need, in a ski holiday.

Vail Colorado ring Ski Independence, but in a country involving several flights road journey etc the skiers have to research what to do. I would fly to Denver, Denver Eagle, hire car at Eagle.
Tremendous resort with an Austrian feel, the hidden motto of Vail "if people are not enjoying themselves they do not spend money" everyone makes sure you do.
