Just recieved a couple of emails from the ski club, telling me that some discussions I contributed to had been moved to the new "The ski club" forum.
It looks like some of the discussions on SCGB internal matters have been moved there and some have disappeared, presumably into the archives (I havn't checked).
The pupose of the new forum is given as :-
"Ski Club members wishing to discuss Ski Club issues should use this forum. Constructive comments are welcome. Postings which may damage the Club and its reputation may be removed"
Not sure if that means greater censorship of critical comments than the current regime, but this seems to be a positive response to suggestions to give this important topic it's own forum.

Interesting. I wonder what will be considered constructive and what will be construed as damaging criticism.
One small gripe - moving threads from one forum to another is something the SCGB forum desperately needed (and a really good thing about snowHeads).
A shame that it can only done in this case...

I hope SCGB didn't send email to the contributors they had locked out, telling them about the moved topics. That would be rather rubbing things in !

Seriously though, I think moving those threads to a forum of their own is a good thing. Might even revive what's left of SCGB MO chat.

Maybe you only get one if you started a thread that's been moved to the new forum ? I certainly didn't get an email and I have contributed to some of those threads

I got emails because (I assume) I contributed to the threads under my ski club login rather than a registered user login and I'm still a member. I didn't start those threads.

I don't want to sound obsessed about this, but the facts are (a) I use my membership number to access the scgb site; (b) I am still a member; I have contributed to some threads there; and (d) I didn't start anything.

Pete - for some reason they didn't like me not paying my £48 renewall and blocked my access to the chat area.
Hell, it's much better at SnowHeads anyway.... not that I've had a chance to visit here that much as I've been so busy of recent.

Gerry, you are, of course, welcome to select who you'll allow to ski with you, but I can't for the life of me imagine using membership in a ski club as one of the selection criteria. That seems completely backwards to me!
But, then again, I'm a yank and not a member of the SCGB, so what do I know?!?!
