Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

The elusive £100 Salopette...

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Can anyone recommend a pair of decent quality Mens' 38" waist salopettes that aren't:

a) £40 and therefore likely to fall apart 2 days into the next trip
b) £300 and ridiculously overspecced for a part time skiier / full time alcohol who needs to prioritise his beer money?

Seems there's nothing sensible at this kind of price point in the places I've looked. Even suggestions for the best, reasonably priced, online ski shops would be excellent.

Head to TK Maxx and with a bit of luck you'll find some silly money ones reduced to under £100, Or have a look at Aldi soft shell stuff (still some hanging around in my usual one) cheap enough not to matter if it drops to bits but my pair are good as new after 3 weeks and countless trips to Tamworth fridge.

You can get TNF Monte Cargo Pants for £130. Mine have lapped up loads of abuse, including the whole 08/09 season and roughly 16 weeks since. Bombproof - although I have now decided they could do with a techwash to get the water beading on the outside properly again. Also come in plenty of funky colours wink

They might be a bit of a running joke, but my Dare2Be £30 trousers have now done 4 weeks of skiing with no sign of any kind of damage at all. They're a bit dirty, now replaced with something that's got a bit less insulation, cost was about the same. I don't really see why you need to spend £100, let alone more than that.

BigSov Get out to Bicester village and you'll catch the Helly Hansen closing sale and the North Face clearance store. There's a Moncler store too but you won't get a goggle wipe for under £100 in there.

TK Maxx - worth a rummage through the racks, I picked up a pair of super breathable, super waterproof Trespass pants for £40 the other year and they've no signs of wear or indeed tear after 20+ days on the mountain.

You can get the North Face Monte from Go Outdoors for £100. I have a pair in dear-god-almighty-orange, seemed rude not to at that price. I think they've got less flamboyant shades as well.
