Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Gecko Touring Skins?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
I bought myself a pair of Salomon Lords and Marker F10 bindings last year but never got round to buying skins, so now's the time. My plan is initially to just use the skins for skinning up the side of pistes and a bit of slackcountry touring for fitness purposes when on family ski holidays (3 weeks this season), figure it would beat using the indoor gym. Longer term hope to do a bit of proper touring once I've a bit more experience.
So I've been looking for easy to use skins which I can put on and take off easily. I've come across these http://www.gecko.co.at/Gecko_Home_ENG.html which attach by 'suction' and hooks. They seem like a great idea but I'd be interested to hear from anyone who has used them or knows more about them. They don't seem to have a UK distributor so I would need to buy online from the German site I guess.

A friend of a friend has Gecko skins and he's not impressed. I've also read a couple of bad test reports on them. Go Colltec (CT 40) would be my advice.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

And mine too. Unlike two previous sets of skins I've owned, the CT40's don't seem to be a magnet for crap and don't mind being wet or frozen. They just stick. Cool

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Thanks for the advice, I'll look into the CT40's as well.
