Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Plug/power adapter recommendation.

Poster: A snowHead
Having seen a few recommendations for cutting the UK plug off a 4-way extention lead and fitting a euro plug. Then use that instead of just plug adapters to power all our chargers, etc and having to keep swaping what was on charge. I finally got around to doing it but couldn't get a euro plug. Local electrical suppliers didn't have ("sorry we're not allowed to sell them" Confused ) and so looked on line but could only come up with stanard travel adapters when I searched. Then I found travel adapter on amazon.
Ordered on-line Sat' evening and arrived Mon' morning. Less than £15 so not much different than doing it myself would have been[/url]

Why cut the plug off, just get a 4 way extension lead and plug it into a cheap travel plug, then plug that into the socket in france

Link is actually http://www.traveldapter.com/ I think?

I've always just taken a standard UK 4-way and plugged it into one of those converters you can get for £2 at ADSA... however cutting off the plug for a Euro one is tempting for a more robust solution!

Timbobaggins, I would say that's fine if you're running low power things like phone chargers. I wouldn't put a kettle through a travel adapter personally though. I certainly wouldn't put a bank of 4 13 amp devices through one. So it depends what you're running.

If you're having difficulty sourcing a Euro plug in the UK, why not simply bring a screwdriver with you and do it on arrival for about 1 euro from the supermarket.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Travel adapters are just over a quid each anyway, so why bother with the faff of an extension cable, just get a couple of those 3-packs for £7 and put them on your UK plugs for the duration of your trip.

What you say makes great sense except that some French rooms only have one accessible wall socket. Worse I have had rooms where accessing the 'one' socket means moving the bed. So I support the idea of taking a four way extension lead.

Maybe I'm just unlucky but the rooms I get rarely have more than a couple of plugs and there's usually somthing like a bedside light in one/two of them. On a ski trip I'll have at least 2 things to charge and my room-mate the same. In summer on my car trips thats more like 3-4 things each. Now I'm no H+S junkie but I don't like multiple adapters pluged into each other; Accident waiting to happen and reminds me of the old government information films. So this is a simple solution.
Yes, I could buy a 4gang extention, then get a plug but in resort, take wire cutters (extention plugs are molded on) and screw driver away with me and fit the plug. Or I can spend a couple of quid more and save the hassle.

If you ask about someone will have recieved a euro kettle plug lead with a computer or printer - offices usually have a few in a cupboard.

Take the lead and cut the kettle plug end off, then you need a 4 way that can be unscrewed and then replace the whole lead.

finding a 4way with a replaceable lead could be difficult as most stuff these days is molded shut
