Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Hi,

Check out rental republic www.rentalrepublic.co.uk. They aren't the cheapest but aren't the most expensive either, have good kit and they come to your apt to fit.

Happy holidays!

It may be obvious and I suspect you have done this already, but when we take people to Les Arcs who need to hire gear we do it all on line with Intersport before setting out. Certainly in Arc 1600 the gear is good (usually very good), they have it because youn have already booked, and it is much cheaper than just pitching up on Saturday morning and walking into the nearest hire shop.

Whoops made a mistake. It is Skiset we use not Intersport. Sorry.

redcbr, we're booked in with Rental Republic in 1800 the week before you, had some good recommendations, their pricing looks good and (crucially for us), they'll deliver on a Saturday night when we get off the train. I couldn't find another shop/supplier which would be able to fit us up at 8pm on Saturday. I've never had equipment out of a van before, but so far their service has been great.

I've used Intersport at both Val Thorens and La Plagne - over a ten year period - and no complaints whatsoever, helpful and patient staff, etc. Recommend you pre-book online for best prices. If they're good in those 2 resorts, chances are they'll be good in Les Arcs.

Big recommendation for those renting boots is to be sure that they're comfortable - different makes are typically wider / narrower / greater or lesser volume etc so if a Salomon boot feels like it's pinching try a Head boot... seems bloody obvious but I have known people gripe about the discomfort of rented boots but simply say "well, that's the size I wear" as if all makes are identical!

Hope the snow is good for your holiday - especially as I'll be across the valley in Plagne Villages 14-21 Jan!
