Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Cursed by beginners, loved( Puzzled ) by experts, how do you get from one stage to the other? The answer, practice, practice, practice. When you can ski a steep, icy, narrow, busy, mogul run then you know that you've truly mastered on-piste skiing. If you can do it on a snowboard then there must be a small undiscovered tribe in Papua New Guinea that worships you as a god.

That looks like a really nice mogul field - not too steep, nice evenly spaced moguls plenty of width and no rocks/earth/grass showing between the moguls. Those are the sort of moguls I'd like to practice on. Hardly ever seem to get moguls like that.

I really love them, but I just can't ski them. Most of my big crashes have taken place on mogul fields, as have most of the times when I've nad difficulty getting down. I am only now just being able to link a few together... I wish that I could find some more red runs with them.

Those look lovely, nice slope so you can maintain some speed, spacing not too gnarly, and the kind of size where perfect line through the valleys isn't critical. Skied with a bloke once who said the best way to practice was to find a clear patch, then close your eyes and see how many you could ski listening to your legs rather than trying to intellectualise where to turn. He was a nutter but he had a point.

According to Webster's 9th, mogul is Scandinavian in origin from a Norwegian dialect, meaning "heap". Its acceptance into English in this context dates to ca. 1959. Very Happy

Same. I just cant seem to master these little bleeders either, despite living in La Plagne for the last 3 years and practicing all season. I can string a few together but ultimately they catch me out and I end up on my back, ski's off and about 50 feet from where I started. Embarassed

What are your top tips for tackling the moguls - I gave them a go at my local ski center Chill Factore (Manchester) as they have the "give it a go" freestyle section. I managed them but was not as fluid as I would like to be - how do you prepare, any kind of stretches or particular activities help? This is the freestyle course - https://www.chillfactore.com/give-it-a-go/
