Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Seasonal Winter sports Insurance

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Just a quick question for those in the know, for the past two seasons I've used the BMC as my insurer (I've had an annual policy as I've worked two full seasons) Unfortunately I'm from the Channel Islands and they've just informed me that they will no longer provide cover for Channel Island or Isle of Man residents, are there any other good companies out there worth looking at for cover, ideally one that includes off-piste cover and mountain evacuation (helicopter)? Need to get it sorted for this winter

Cheers

Try the Austrian Alpenverein if that is where you are going to be based. Or perhaps the Provincial Skilehrerverband have the type of insurance you need for the ski season.

If you are employed by an Austrian Ski School, you are covered anyway for any accidents that occur while working. That includes accidents on your way to or from your workplace. They have very good industrial injuries cover, so it is the repatriation costs you need to cover I suppose, but I suspect they would be covered as well. For all my other needs I used a standard annual travel insurance when I was working in Tirol and Salzburgerland.

Yeah I was thinking of Austrian Insurers as a good friend is with them. I was going to get carte neige anyway, but I used BMC insurance as my all round personal insurance too!

just found dog tag.

are you with them Heidiky? It looks like you can be covered to hike and mountaineer up to some good heights. Might go with them, just need to find out what their 'small print' is regarding off piste coverage for touring/ski mountaineering/etc.

You have an e-card and health insurance through work, so unless you need possessions insurance, go with the Alpen Verein - something like €20 a year, covers mountain evacuation, and as far as I understand it, repatriation to the country you are a permanent resident of.

EDIT: Dammit, old thread.

I have joined the Alpen Verein, just fill out the form online and they will send you a payment slip which you can take in person to the nearest office.

I use the Deutsche Sport Verein. About €105 for their top cover for the whole family and season. Not sure on residency requirements.
