Anyone have any suggestions for something I could carry with me on the slopes? I've tried Google but they're either too big or inaccurate.

Maplin has several electronic thermometers. You could try something like this one and you could even have the 'outdoor' sensor on your skin inside your clothing and the main unit outside.

The Pieps does look interesting. Wonder if you'd be able to feel 30g extra on the one pole though? Probably nothing major...
How accurate are those keyring thermometers? Seen a few complaint reviews where it's like 5 - 10 degrees out.

rocsen, Mine seems to be accurate but you doo need to do a mental correction... as it mine reads a little low. It's about 3 C within other readings though. In reality unless you have a current calibration cert any reading is only an approximate... and then you are paying hundreds.

There's one on my altimeter/compass/etc watch which unsurprisingly usually reads something close to body temperature.

Really, is that what it says. My friend has one and he says it doesn't get dodgy until -20. Its useful as a watch too, cos at -20 you don't want to look up your sleeve.

I bought a digital cooking probe thermometer from Ebay HK for snow profiles etc. Only a couple of £. Goes down to -50. Took in on as hand luggage and Gatwick security had a fit - only just managed to persuade them to let me keep it.
