Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Help needed from bi-linqual native Italian speaker

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
This is (sort of) The Piste ? as it involves skiing (tenuously).

Does anyone know what the Italian translation for Kosher (Jewish food) is Italian, or is there another phrase that is used.

I have just had a group booking in from a Jewish religious group and they have asked for this, the hotels don't understand.

My Italian is not good enough for this. I teach Italians to ski and I think I sound like Manuel from Fawlty Towers to them, well they seem to spend a lot of time laughing at my pronunciation, but this is VERY important and so I must get it right.

Thanks

Babelfish gives the Italian translation of kosher as "cascer".
Venice has a long tradition of hosting Jewish communities (The Merchant of Venice Very Happy ) and I think kosher food can still be found in the 'ghetto' area above the train station. So perhaps the hotels could call other hotels in that area for advice on recipes?

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Wayne, I doubt that the hotel will be able to observe kashrut laws if they are unaware by your Italian! Just go into their kitchens and look! Seperate sinks, seperate pots and pans, etc. Not many hotels have this set up outside Israel!

Just found out it can't be done.

Had a reply from synagogue and they said it can't be done. Kosher must be from farm to plate.

The clients are going to bring some food with them and the the chef will prepare it for them. The clients seem quite relaxed about things, so they said it should be ok.

Tell them that it's OK because it's halal and that it's (more or less) the same thing.

It is not just the food! So they appear to be less observant than they led you to believe! Or it could be when out of sight of their rabbi it is "sausage and bacon" for breakfast! Laughing Not unknown IME!!
