Help!!
Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Looking at organising a ski weekend and want to try something different from the usual chamonix and Chatel options. We need somewhere which is no more than an hour -two hour journey. I believe Genoble is the nearest airport? Does anyone know how long it will take to drive?

90 minutes to 2 hours.
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I think so.
Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

If you're only doing a weekend you might find flights to Grenoble a bit limited and mean that you get much reduced ski time for time taken off work.
If you want a change from Chamonix and Chatel have you considered Austria - there are usually flights to Salzburg and Munich that mean you can travel v. early or late in the day to maximise ski time for time off work.

Chambery must be a very close second to Grenoble.
After all it is free

yep Grenoble is the closest - loads of locals from that area head to 2 Alpes, La Grave, Serre Chevalier and Alpe d'Huez for weekend skiing - it is only a 90 minute drive tops. However the range of flights can be a little limiting! How about considering Megeve for a weekend - about the same distance as Cham from Geneva but different!
