Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Cervinia or Sella Ronda at Christmas & Easter?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
We usually go away at Christmas/New Year and then again at Easter school hols, due to having a teacher and a school age child in the family.

I've never skied in Italy, so quite fancy a trip there. We're thinking of going to Cervinia and one of the Sella Ronda resorts. If we go to one at Christmas we'll go to the other at Easter. Disregarding cost (as the cost is similar to both on both weeks), which of these would be best to go to at Christmas, and which would be better to go for at Easter (31st March for a week). And why?

How much skiing is there to get from Cervinia down into Zermatt and back? Is it easily manageable in a day?

Personally I'd do Cervinia at xmas and Sella ronda at easter, just because I like the sunny skiing. I've done Zermatt week before xmas the last 5 years and Sella a few times in March and have always had a great time.

Cervinia will also have more snow at xmas (obvioulsy not always true) but then again you might have more days interrupted by wind at Cervinia over Xmas. Cervinia to Zermatt and back is very easily done in the day the main issue being slow (cold) long lifts and the connection might be prone to closing on windy days.. so theres also a good arguement for doing it the other way round..

The place we were looking at for Sella Ronda got booked up for Christmas anyway, so we're off to Cervinia for the week.

The hot chocolate at the cafe by the valtourneche lift is highly recommended.
