Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Buses from Mayrhofen to other Ziller Valley resorts.

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Just about to book a hol this winter in Mayrhofen, really like the idea of being able to jump on an bus and have day trips at completely different resorts all on the same lift pass that are near by.

Can anyone advise on how frequent the buses, how long the journeys are and timings etc.

Thanks in advance!

There's also the train. Kaltenbach is probably the most convenient - I think it's just a short walk between station and the lifts. Zell am Ziller and Gerlos would need a bus.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

The narrow gauge Zillertalbahn railway runs from Mayrhofen all the way down the valley (and like the busses is included in your area liftpass), usually 2 trains every hour, see website.
Kaltenbach gondola base station is just a few hundred yards walk from the station called Kaltenbach/Stumm, and the uplift capacity at Kaltenbach is large as there are two gondola systems running in parallel. Kaltenbach ski area is linked with Hochfugen and together provides 181km of pistes, more info here where you can see the piste map and view piste videos. Madeye-Smiley

I can`t recall the precise frequency of the buses but they were pretty good. We were based at Kaltenbach and negotiated the valley by bus most days. Taxis were also plentiful and reasonably cheap if a number of you were sharing.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Some info here but no winter timetables yet:

The buses up the valley towards Hintertux run about every 30 minutes at the peak times IIRC. Bus station is at the train station for Mayrhofen.

As mentioned, if travelling down the valley, take the train - it really is straightforward and is free on your Zillertal ski pass. The bus that runs regularly from the train station to the lifts at Zell am Ziller is very easy. Again IIRC, the journey by train was about 30 minutes.
