Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

158 is too short for you. I'd suggest somewhere around 165 as a minimum, even for indoors.

mattiwilkin, Shortest ski you should prob be on is a Slalom 165 roughly. Going slightly longer depending on what it is for but as above if they are free Twisted Evil

mattiwilkin, when some folk spend their whole week in the Alps whacking around on blades why would anyone worry what length ski you take to Xscape?!!!!

mattiwilkin, you can normally hire for free at the snowdomes, so wouldn't worry about that.

If it's just for fun on the snow in the park etc at home try whatever length you can get for cheap, then you won't mind if you wreck them Happy I've got a pair that are too short for me, with bindings fixed at the front so I can only move the back, so I'm positioned a bit too far back, but I got them, poles and a bag as well all for £15, and I get to whizz past the kids on sledges without ruining my proper skis on the tarmac and grid covers that may be sticking up Madeye-Smiley

mattiwilkin, 158 no problem at all in a snowdome. Most of the racers are on 155 or less (except for series where they specify a minimum of 165). I'm 5'11(.5)" and 14 stone (at least Wink ) and I use 156cm slalom skis with no problem. 165 would also be fine if that were what you were offered, but no sweat at all at 158. I'm not so sure about them for skiing in a dump at home (although you don't show your location) - the snow would then have much less firm base than in the dome and you'll go through to the ground underneath quicker, so I have a few pairs of completely knackered retired skis for that purpose.

It does depend on what ski you have in mind but generally for snowdomes go short. I'm your height/weight and been fine on 155 and many of the racers run that length. For use if it snows here buy some dead skis off ebay because they *will* get trashed.
