Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Equipment Hints and tips thread

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
From time to time we get a thread posted asking for solutions to problems, I've done it myself. I wondered if we needed a thread for rounding up those useful things that people find work or are useful to them in one thread. I'll give you some idea of what I have in mind with my own contributions.

1. Before you dump the kids old worn-out school bags or worn out ski/outdoor gear in the dustbin scour them for useful 'bits and bobs' and detach with scissors and sling them in the back of cupboard until you need them. I've used: webbing, plastics belt clipps and adjusters, toggles - sprung loaded and otherwise, strong sections of material, and even the padded straps for all sorts of things: Padding around webbing helmet straps that have rubbed in one spot or another, mending travel bags, making ski glove lanyards, replacing broken bits on decent outdoor gear, securing bits of fancy dress outfits, making handles for cardboard shields for kids to playing kights and dragons. The odd section of rubber welly and leather boot is also worth holding onto for fashioning into emergency gaskets

2. polishing the inside of googles that are prone to fogging with a smidgen of washing up liquid every couple of days works wonders.

Any more?

SKIERS. Simply cut the ends off your old unwanted socks and voila! A stylish and practical winter coat for a small dachshund.

Save yourself the time-consuming element of a ski holiday by encasing your feet in concrete and standing in a freezer in front of an industrial fan, periodically burning bundles of notes.

Instead of taking stacks of adapter plugs on your hols for the kids ipods, DS games etc. etc. Take a 3m long 5-6 gang extension lead and 1 adapter, keeps the kids all in one place if nothing else!

Just remembered another one Alans deep bath, comment above reminded me.

Don't wee wee when wearing a helmet cam, and even worse do not review the footage from the helmet cam in the bar at the end of the day with all your mates (was not me, one of the guys we were skiing with 2 seasons ago)
