Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Okay it's still September, but the glacier re-opening is only 3 weeks away. I'll be up there October the 1st anyone coming?

Here's a view of the glacier from my patio.

Adrian, suggested this topic be called "Tignes and Val d'Isere 2011/2012" (sorry to 'out you' Adrian!).

Can we discuss the need for an Epace Killy thread while were waiting for the snow?

I guess Tignes and Val are close enough to have the same snow report, but I too proud of my Tignes roots to bundle it in with Val!

rorie, well, not only am I a bit biased because I'm a huge Tignes fan, (I love that first drive/bus up the mountain over the dam every December Little Angel ) but usually the Tignes thread gets mentions of summer skiing as well on the Grand Motte etc plus right at the very end of the season when Val D'Isere has closed, so it makes sense (in my mind anyway) to have it as Tignes.

I wouldn't object if the majority preferred calling it Espace Killy though, or if they wanted to add Val D'Isere to it. If it is going to be a Tignes and Val D thread, then better to call it Tignes and Val D'Isere instead of Espace Killy IMO.

Rorie - Just checked the webcam up on the Motte - in your experience are the crevasses any worse this year? The ones off to the right of Leisses look quite large - but it may be distortion from the camera. I am not trying to start a global warming debate - more of a debate on how long to stay on the pisted bits this winter.

It was a hot summer, though I actually thought the end of August on the glacier was no worse than previous years.

Skiing off-piste glacier is always a bit of an unknown. Take a rope... or a guide Blush

Kenzie, as a fellow Yorkshireman I couldn't agree more. I recall my first introduction to the difference between the two resorts by the Ski Up North (Olympic) rep as we approached the Dam, in 19 black and white, was "Ladies and Gentlemen On your right is the famous Dam where Champagne Charlies turn left and real skiers turn right". Right where's that parapet I need to stick my 'ed below. Twisted Evil

rorie, Eyup Rorie. So you've jumped ship and joined TDC eh? Claire and i have been thinking about doing a pre-season clinic or bootcamp and have just been looking at the TDC option. So we may well be seeing you in December. We'll be more than happy to join you for a coffee in the Spar and will no doubt catch up with Stewart too.
