Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Oakley Jawbones

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
I'm thinking of buying some Oakley Jawbones to use for skiing. After reading other posts on here regarding lenses I'm thinking of going for Persimmon for general/allround use and Black Iridium for really sunny days. Does this sound like a good option, or is there one lens that could do the job of both...or even a better combination of the two I'm considering? Also, are the vented lenses suitable for skiing, or am I better off going for the non-vented ones?

Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Hi, I have a couple of pairs of the Jawbones and find the fit of them very good for eliminating wind onto your eyes, i use them for ski and road bikes.
Both pairs came with the persimmon lens and one pair the smoked lens the other the black iridium.
I find the persimmon lens very good for all round use and tend to use on all but the brightest of days as they are a very good all round lens
Havent used the vented lens.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Garsy23, I use the halfjackets rather than the jawbones, as to lenses, Fire Iridium for sunny and lowish light, Hi Yellow for flat light days Smile - its a really great lens, but if the sun starts to shine through you need to change em quick Madeye-Smiley

Thanks guys...I think I'm going to go with the persimmon, just gotta decide which bright light lens to go for. I have heard good reports about the Fire Iridium, but i'll have to see how it compares cost-wise with the Black Iridium.

I really can't decide whether the vented lenses would be a good thing or a bad thing. I'd also be using them for cycling as well, so I'd assume the vents would be great for that, just not sure if they'd let too much cold air in when skiing?!
