Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Ski Size

I recently bought a pair of Atomic Supercross SX:11s, size 180cm on the recommendation of the guy in Snow and Rock. I'm 6"2 and 75 kg, I tend to ski hard and fast on piste but like to be versatile. Several people have commented that 180cm is very long, should I change to 170?

Thanks.

Have you been on them, yet? I am 6', 175lb and would recommend the 170cm for anyone who skis pretty hard and is anywhere near my weight/height. It's too bad the that ski only comes in 10cm increments. Even so, the SX:11 in a 170 is a wonderful ski, carves exceptionally well, does not have a speed limit. My only concern with it is that it does not like to skid at all. "Buttering" turns is very difficult with the ski, I think, and it demands a solid skier to stay on it at all times (perhaps a little more tiring than others that I really liked like the Fischer RX8 and the Elan S12 Fusion).

I hope that's helpful.

Yes at 165lbs that is way to much ski for you. If you can take it back and get the SX9 or new SX10 in no longer then 170. You may even be able to go with a 160cm depending on your skills. I have found that the better skier may even like a shorter ski. I'm 5'11" 195lbs and enjoy some skis (with wide waist) in 165cm.

Thanks, Max Capacity, I am about your size too and feel fine on 170s, despite the fact I started on 180s about 8 years ago,
