Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Transfer from BSM to les Arcs 2000

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Going to les Arcs 2000 by Eurostar during the first week of Easter. We are a group of 8 (4 adults + 4 kids). Two of the children are not very good travelers and "fire their lasers" quite often on resort transfers. Looking at the option of the BSM funicular and then getting the resorts buses from 1600 to 2000 rather than a private transfer from the train station.
Has anyone done this?
Would this option be better for poor travelers?

Funicular/Bus would be the quickest option

Funi and resort bus will probably be the cheapest option. Another option you have is coach from BSM directly up to resort. There is a kiosk inside the train station you can buy a transfer for, they run a few times a day. You can also book online at altibus.com.

It's worth checking how much a private transfer would be though; it's a pretty short run up the valley and may end up only costing you a little more than the hassle of lugging all your stuff along to the Funi terminal from the train station.

Skisuit,
Funi and coach is one option - but will require you to hike your luggage around, or wait for the (free) shuttle bus from the front of the station to the funi. (As its Eurostar, not SNCF, you will need to go through the customs exit at the front of the train, but the funicular connects at the back, tantalisingly close but out of reach if you are in the wrong carriage!).

Will cost circa 7 or 8 euros per person - so you are looking at €60. the shuttle buses at the top are timed to run with the Funiculars, - a proper integrated transport system, but it is about 11km from Funi to 2000, so not a 2 min job - allow 20 - 25 - it also stops a couple of times on the way (UPCA and 1950) and depending on your residence at 2000, you may end up at the wrong end of the village there too.

The direct coach (hourly) was €12 per person last year, but takes forever - it goes via 1800, and right to the far end at that. MInd numbing, and I really wouldn't recommend, particularly if poor travellers involved. Avoid if at all possible.

If you pre-book a mini-bus taxi, you should be able to get 4+4 in it - will be about €85 (it was ~€75 to 1950) - if you just go the the big taxis at the front of the station, they tend to draw the line at about 6+ luggage iirc. But by far the quickest and convenient, and will take 35 mins.

TBH we usually get two taxis from the station when in a large group - €20 a head, door to door, fast and no back strain involved.
