Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Livigno Off Piste

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Most likely heading to Livigno next year but heard they've made heading off piste illegal without a guide Shocked

Anyone got any recent experience? Got fine? Got arrested? Had a lift pass confiscated?
How rabidly do they enforce the ban? Do you get arrested for skiing the easy access stuff between pistes and into trees or are they after the more extreme kind.

Seriously thinking of dropping out of the trip, first time the thought of an upcoming ski trip has got me down.

Should I just save up and pay lots of fines Very Happy

Only been there once but the place is small with two rows of small hills on either side of the valley. Think it sells itself as a resort for beginners and intermediates. Wouldn't have thought it a place to do much off piste as one skiing on one side can see what others are doing at the opposite side.

It is nice place to ski though. If the memory serves me right it should have 3 accesses. One close in Winter from the Swiss side. The other road from the Swiss side has a one-way road tunnel with the border post over a dam. The last is a minor road from Italian side. Not a easy place to get to but the snow is tremendous. It nearest resort is St Moritz! Both resorts share a lot of common characteristics.

It is a very nice skiing resort and I wouldn't be surprised that they take a firm view on visitors breaking the rules.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Just because a place is small doesn't make it bad for off-pisting. One can always go into the patches between the piste.

That said, it might be difficult if they're explicitly prohibited.
