Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Large Self-Catering Accomodation for 20+ people

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi

Am wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a very big self-catering chalet.

Next season we will be holidaying in a group of five or six families: 20-25 people.

We are likely to drive, and so not too fussed about ski-in ski-out or ski convenience. Any resort considered - of course, the more diverse, charming, snow-sure and so on the better! But last year we compromised on all that for a place big enough to accomodate us all - then we were 14 people and struggled to find somewhere big enough - all though we left it late. We ended up in a chalet with two interlinking apartments which suited us very well indeed. As the building was detached and we had the only two apartments, we had no problem with leaving the doors open to connect the two otherwise separate places.

More important to us is to have a place big enough to accomodate us all and allowing communal dining/socialising. (Its a bunch of families, so the dining will be in two sittings. 10-12 children first, followed by 10-12 adults.)

Happy to consider any suggestions/tips people have.

Many thanks

TheManOnTheBus, depending on when you are looking at (we are fully booked for New Year, Half Term and Easter) we may be able to help. We have two inter-connected chalets sleeping up to 27 or a chalet-hotel sleeping 25. We are in La Tania, which is probably not what you may have in mind as 'charming' Very Happy but does offer a great family-friendly base. Drop me a PM if of interest

TheManOnTheBus,

Can't help on the self catering side - we only do hotels.

But have a look at this in Les Arcs in France. May be what you're looking for

although may be a little big - there are some smaller ones on the same site.

Good luck with your search

Thanks. Yes - it is for half-term. Will check out the Les Arcs one, but another aspect forgot to mention was that we are somewhat on a budget (hence driving and self-catering!) ...

Oh dear. Another set of friends has just come into our group and we are now looking for somewhere for 30 people self-catering. Half Term. More budget than luxury.... .

TheManOnTheBus, oh dear indeed Sad Finding something for 30 people at half term, anywhere, is going to be a challenge now. Have you tried the Solutions Room on www.chaletsdirect.com ? You never know, there may be something left which suits, but anything which will fit you all, is somewhere you want to go and is a good price, is likely to have been booked a while ago - good luck though.

BTW - apologies if it's preaching to the converted, but very large groups do have a habit of becoming much smaller and you could do an awful lot of work, find something for 30-ish that works, and then get a lack of commitment when it comes to actually paying deposits. If you're as sure as you can be that they are all serious, go for it, but otherwise is it feasible to get some kind of payment from them now?

I wonder, given the numbers, whether you might not in fact get a better deal on a package TO basis. What's your cph for travel, transfer and accommodation? What are you budgeting for food/refreshment cphpw?
