Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi I am thinking of going to the skiwelt next year, was wondering where would be the best place to stay, easy access to the lifts is what we are looking for ski in ski out hotel would be ideal or short walk.
Anyone knows a hotel that would fit the bill would be great thanks in advance.
Adele ps not bothered about apres ski too much there for the skiing.

The Glockenstuhl in Westendorf is a two minute walk to the lifts (but the ski hire shop storage is right next to them). Also happens to be the nicest village in the Ski Welt, with the best skiing...

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

The Tulpe in Soell is about 2 mins walk from the gondola, and 6-7 mins walk into the main part of the village. It's a nice hotel -- we've stayed there 10 times over the years

We stayed at the Waldhof in Scheffau which is ski in ski out. You are away from the village of Scheffau but that didn't bother us. We just ski all day and then enjoy our evening meal in the hotel. We had a car and drove up to Scheffau village a couple of times for supermarket/cash point. We are planning on returning there again next year.

There is a petrol station next to it with a shop, though it's not cheap! It would be a long walk to the village and it's mostly uphill. I wouldn't have fancied it after skiing all day! There is a ski bus which goes up to the village and back which I think is free, though we never used it.

figg4, You can pick up some stuff from the service station right in front of the hotel. Other wise a walk of about a kilometre uphill into the village get you to the banks and the main shops. The Waldhof is OK but although it is ski in a the bottom of the main home run from Brandstadl, it is only ski out in so far as you can clip in to slide across to the lift station (either the gondolas Brandstadl 8-seater or Brandstadl 4-seater).

The apres at the end of each ski day is good there but it quietens down pretty quickly. The walk up into Scheffau is not too strenuous once you are out of your ski boots and don't have to carry your skis.

Ellmau has quite a few hotels close to the lifts especially near to the Hartkaiser Bahn (Funicular). Brixen im Thale and Westerndorf on the other side of the Ski Welt are also well worth looking at and may well be a wee bit cheaper (or offer better value for the same money).

Did a 3 day trip to the Waldhof in Jan this year and felt that was probably enough. I also felt that bottle necks getting back were a problem with big queues to get back up to the plateau before the home run. Infact that's my second time in skiwelt and I wont be going again. Apres was busy until about seven then very quiet for the rest of the evening. Having stayed at Soll the last time, I would use that as a base as a preference.
