Apart from forgetting the Spice Girls ever existed.
Ski Boots, you all have them, hopefully fitted properly by now, but where are the holes out there? What product doesn't exist? Of course as a bootfitter I have my ideas, but they are based around my approach to fitting and not always are we/I intouch with all skier types.
For me there is room to develop a; real no compromise Freeride/Touring boots, we're close but no Ziggy Zigar.
A full custom DIY Web based product eliminating the need for people like me to service the every growing space for online shopping.
What say you?

Boots that have a remote control in my pocket - loosen off when I get into the lift queue, tighten up a bit for the cruising around fun runs, and tighten up a lot for the hardcore steep stuff. It must be possible, if the seat and steering wheel in a car can be programmed for individual users, they can work out how I want my boots set in the three positions and have motors to adjust them to those positions.

Monium, go the full hog, total remote control so a skier who knows what they are doing can input the necessary weight shifting movements to get you down anything perfectly... at least that's what I would like!

How about:

walk mode
canting
adjustable forward angle
adjustable flex
seems a lot to ask for?
Oh...wait...Dachstein used to make those boots but in the name of "progress" we can't get such a boot now...

What kitenski says. It's amazing that a 'consumer' product is such a 'pain' to buy.

Salomon Quest 12/14 with the Custom Shell option in the 100/106 last. Really thought they would introduce the CS to the Quest range for this season but they've put it on the Ghost instead. Oh well, maybe next year

AndAnotherThing.., i'd say "consumer" boots are easy to buy - you just pick something that feels comfy. once you are getting into fitting you are getting into the "enthusiast" space

I'm not sure that holds up. There are plenty of examples of people who buy boots in shops who then need specialist boot fitting once they start skiing in them.

AndAnotherThing.., That kinda sums up the point of the question, Salomon, industry leaders in innovation and marketing have certainly started to address this with their custom shells, not a product we sell. I'm sure Salomon have a product that could be fitted from home, and are just bidding their time before you lot realise it and start buying it for yourselves cheaply and doing your own fitting. The tools needed can be found and modified around the home. The sweet part of it is that they haven't alienated bootfitters in the process. I don't like many things about the product, but that's nothing about the concept.

I am surprised more bootfitters don't hire filthy chix in short tops and short skirts to fit boots and give personalized service.
Sales would rocket.

Something to make ski boots easier to get on and off. Either a tool that opens the boot enough to get your foot in easily, or some alteration to boot design to make them open more easily. It's my biggest bugbear with boots and I still miss the ease of use with the old rear entry boots for this reason.

Decent walk mode. Maximum of grip affordable on a sole which remains DIN compliant (i.e. under arch). Pop out crampons. Stock liners which don't pack out (beyond the first couple of days' use) or can be properly "refreshed" in home servicing (Microwaveable?). A recommendation for which flavour Febreze goes best with the liner. A real variable flex option allowing user to crank them up for going hard.
Dehydration option to minmise weight in hand luggage

Hang on, are we missing an obvious trick here?
Rather than concentrate on making boots more 'user friendly', how about changing the binding design? The boot last is current restricted by the binding, which means there is very little which can be designed into the boot, save a couple of new materials to soften/harden things up a little.....

How about a 3D scanner that you can use to generate a 3D wireframe image of your feet and send to SMALLZOOKEEPER, so that he can re-create this in his lab and create a cast that he can fit a boot to and post to you?

Why do they have to be so heavy? Make them with a lighter plastic. Better for luggage weight and less tiring to walk/dance in.
