Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Just wondering what you need skills wise to be able to get through the course?

As far as I know you have to be able to do Straight Air, 180 (Maybe a 360) and natural and unnatural rail slides. Pretty sure that is the main stuff on my list to do late next year.

Hopefully i will try for it in May2012, Was speaking to the BASI examiner in saas-fee. He was saying that you need to be able to do a 180 both natural & unnatural. Also need to be quite complement on the rails. Over if you are a fairly good skier and have spent some time in the park you should be able to get it. I've have an issue with balance which im currently working on. Protection gear helps! Blush Laughing

Thanks for the info

Best investment recently for me was a 'wobble board' from ebay, 20-30 mins a day and you realy know where your balance is. Once you are balanced using it on carpet move onto a hard floor amd try balancing there.

no 'coach' course dates listed on the basi web site that I can see currently. I get the feeling that the number of courses has been reduced somewhat.

cathalibm, Do you plan to follow up with a level 2 ?

AndAnotherThing.., From what I hear BASI are revamping their coaching offerings should be an announcement soon, I think the plan is that they will be working more closely to provide a unified offereing alonside the individual country snowsports bodies. Part of the problem as I understand it is that the BASI offerings have been widely taken up and it has starved the country snowsports bodies of income.

The new offereings may well have a mandatory shadowing component more like the current instructor program.
