Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

German skiing chief slams Turin 2006 Olympics plans

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
The head of German ski racing - Thomas Pfueller of the German Ski Federation (DSV) - has launched a furious attack on the logistics of the Turin 2006 Winter Olympics. Speaking at the opening of a competition ski jump he criticised "unworkable" transport, "unacceptable" training facilities and accommodation prices which he claims are being hiked by a factor of "fifteen".

This report from Reuters.

The Italian organisers of the Games intend to respond tomorrow (Friday).

I have checked out the prices being quoted for a basic apartment in Briancon, for 1 week , with one or two organised trips to OLympic events, around 750-1000 euros per person was being quoted for a 1 bed apartment which would probably get 850 euros max for that week of the season.

Helen, I take it you're doubting the accusations of Thomas Pfueller (interesting surname - he's certainly spilling it around). Hopefully someone has asked him to back up his 'rent hike' claim.

Unless I've missed it, the Italians never responded to his attack - perhaps wisely if the German is spitting fire. The Olympics work best when countries cooperate!

David Goldsmith, I have heard that all the hotels in Turin had been blocked booked by the olympic organisation, and were being let out for up to 1000 euros a night.
I checked out the prices to see what was being charged when I was setting the rental prices for my apartment. I think those prices in Briancon are expensive, the apartments are quite small and not particularly luxurious.

Hi All

If there isn't someone complaining about something then no one seems to be happy.

I would also question the price hikes. I stayed in Sauze D'oulx last Christmas and I looked at this years prices in the Neilson brouchers and what struck me was that there was no big increases during the Olympic weeks.

May be the German Team need to contact Neilsons.

D G Orf, they're extortionate, can't see that any tickets are included in those prices either, I'm sure i found some more reasonable prices somewhere though.
