Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Summer Skiing in Verbier ?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Looking at heading out to Switzerland this summer with the family on one of those rail-pass deals the Swiss do. Have been before and seen the summer ski options in Saas Fee and Zermatt. A mate of mine told me that you can ski on the Mont Fort glacier in Verbier in the summer. However, I've been having a scout around and can see no evidence to suggest he's right - a few websites list it as a summer skiing option but with no detail. I've looked on the official Verbier website and that says the area closes for skiing on the 1st of May.

Anyone out there got any decent knowledge of Verbier ? Can you ski there in summer ?

There is no formal skiing on Mt Fort anymore in the summer. The cable car operates in July and August and I don't think there's a prohibition on taking your skis up, but it will be unpisted with a long hike at the end to get back to the lift. Sadly a victim of climate change and a bit of economics as well.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

The bottom run off was, but the top section is usually left alone, although at the moment skiers' right is a smooth as a baby's bum for the speedskiing.
