i,m off to alpe dhuez next feb 4th after booking a package deal that includes hotel, ski hire and 6 day lift pass. after ringing the tour op they told me i was getting a local pass and not a full area one but when i contacted the alpe dhuez web site they told me they dont do a restricted 6 day pass! does anyone know any different?

I think they only offer the local passes for a day or half day, not for full 6 days. For that duration I'm pretty sure you're forced to get the Visalp pass that includes everything.

i am hoping that for what ive paid i do get the visalp pass but the tour op did say something about upgrading in resort if i wanted to.

Lizzard, rizzotherock, Those are this seasons prices and I know the last couple of years they have not changed much but next season the Visalp pass will not cover the sports centre and indoor pool, but will cover the outdoor pool. They will be cheaper, they say, but you will either have to pay extra for unlimited access to the the pool and sports centre or individually for each session. I am not sure of the full details because I have only read it in french and I am not that good...... It should, in theory, make it cheaper for pure skiers. I think it is all to do with Alpe d'Huez town owning 51% of SATA, the lift company, at the moment but the town owns 100% of the sports centre etc. Again I am not entirely sure, maybe Lizzard, understands it better.
