Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

TR: NE Couloir of the Cheval Noir

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
This is one day from my recent Steep Vanoise trip with Offpisteskiing. I have so many photos I am not sure I can pull them all into a TR of the full week without blowing up the servers.

The Cheval Noir overlooks Valmorel and St Francois Longchamp. Neither at the top of the freerider's list but if you stuck a lift up the Cheval Noir, it would have quite a reputation:

Take your pick

Better pic of our line - it's the couloir right in the middle of the skyline ridge:

To get there you need to ski off the back of the Valmorel ski area from the Col des Mottets. You then have an interesting skin/climb. It was about 600-700m but quite physical. Great views compensated:

GrahamN strides out

you can see all the way to the Ecrins:

the real fun begins. chest deep in places according to bootpacker in chief, offpisteskiing Skullie

offpisteskiing enters the couloir:

i follow:

Steep!

Paul opens up on the runout

and rounds the day off by spatulating his Gotamas on the piste back home...

Great day out! Thanks, Simon

glad people enjoy the pics. No 8 is a great example of the camera not necessarily representing exactly how it felt to be there. there was certainly a wonderful view but it didn't necessarily feel as airy as it looks in the pic

parlor - those were they. split where the old holes were rolling eyes however, they didn't really have any bases or edges left and Paul had replacement skis with him (bindings just needed swapping over which proved remarkably difficult to arrange given that we were surrounded by big ski resorts) so not a biggie
