Poster: A snowHead
|
Hi All
I'm going to be driving from Tignes to the East Coast of Italy in April. I've been looking at the routes and know the St Bernard Pass will be closed but does anyone know about the route past Val D'Isere on the D902 please, taking me to the D1006? The only other way I can see is the motorway which means going all the way down past Abertville and round. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

Grimsby Ranger, the D902 goes through Val d'Isere then up over the Col de L'iseran Pass, above Le Fornet, which is higher than the St Bernard Pass. It's sometimes closed until early June. Hate to say it, but Albertville and the motorway is probably your only option from Tignes in April.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Wot Backcountryboarder says. if you don't believe him, look at an Espace Killy piste map. Sections of the road are a red run (la route du col), others a blue (mangard).

Grimsby Ranger, Yep, you need to get out to Lyons and then down towards Nice.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Grimsby Ranger, Back to Albertville, then the Turin road via the Frejus tunnel.

Thanks all for the replies, very much appreciated. I thought it might be the case of back down to Abertville but no harm in asking. Thanks again

The Col de L'iseran is the highest through pass in Europe to be precise.
