Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

What is Proslope (ProSno?)and where is Cornwall Winterpark? info needed

hi snowheads, i came across a swanky website for Winterpark - 'Welcome to Winterpark - the home of skiing and snowboarding in Cornwall. Winterpark will be the first purpose built, brand new ski, snowboard and tobogganing centre in the UK, designed with features to meet the needs of all freeriders.' it seems to be associated with Proslope - 'Proslope provide the next generation of snowsports surfaces'.

My questions are, does Winterpark cornwall exist? does any slope have a Proslope surface installed? Any info on this company and its track record.......anyone?

This dates back to at least 2006 - nothing ever happened. i don't think proslope have done any projects, i dont think their surface ProSno has been used anywhere permanently. So there is no 'track record' apart from a few xmas market based temporary snowflex novelty slopes.

I am happy to be corrected rolling eyes

yep, have a read of this http://www.farmersguardian.com/cornish-farmer-first-on-the-slope-to-a-ski-diversification-winner/2322.article its a shame but nothing ever came of it. Chris o' Connell has been trying ever since to get a project going - it just has not happened for him. I think you will find Chris is behind the websites mentioned by herrprentler. (sorry if thats not correct chris) but if you do read this - where are you up to in your projects?

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

That website was a little 'previous'. There have been lots of ideas for indoor/dry slopes in this area as surfers tend to also snowboard. A lack of chimney pots usually puts pay to any viability study.

ok thanks -

one more question, the proslope site gives a testimonial, is it genuine? has Silksworth used this surface?

Paul Robinson – Silksworth:
•Much faster
•Softer to fall on and slide on
•So fast to slide on
•Big smiles on their faces
•Everyone’s loving it
•Much more confident
•Holds water and retains it

its sounding very iffy to me. Puzzled

Main slope at Sunderland (Silksworth) is definately Dendix.

And pretty sure the training slope is too.

herrprentler, Like RobW, Silksworth is definitely dendex and of a dubious vintage too

Just wanted to add to this. I ride at Silksworth and am a member of the monday night freestyle club.

The main slope is dendex however, our new permanent feature is made from ProSno. We now have a HUGE quaterpipe! its much awesome.

Freestyle club now includes 2 jumps, quaterpipe, a rail, and a new baby box. we are getting a picnic table too. Aswell as a DJ pumping out tunes.

enjoy! get your back bottoms down on a Monday night 7 - 9pm

Cheers

Kim

skinutter, I've not skied on it yet, only seen a small demo patch, but it looks and feels nothing like Permasnow (which is a creation of Beelzebub himself)

Haha - rumbled!!!

I'm really glad people are diggin' it - let's re-invent 'dry slope'!!!

A decent outdoor slope with decent surface is always better than a fridge.

Last week I went to Chill and the first third of it was sheet ice...

Mail me or call me re: spare mats!!! wink

Strange, I've always found the snow at Chill to be pretty good... Maybe I just got used to skiing on ice last season.
